Trick or Treat is over, even though the candy lasts until Christmas.

With the continued disruptions in the global supply chain, it’s truly time to start thinking of holiday gifts for the Knollwood Kid(s) in your house.

Here are some Knollwood approved gifts that will be used with enthusiasm, guaranteed!

Stirrup Irons and Leathers

We’re happy to order great quality leathers and irons for your rider. You'll get the same equipment that our staff and show horse customers use, from our preferred supplier, Freedman Harness.

Just let Ann know you’d like to order, and she’ll get the proper length of leather and width of iron for your rider.

These high quality leathers are made of soft, strong leather with bonding material between  leather layers which prevent stretching.

Reminder, for  2023, all academy riders who show away from home need to have their own stirrups.

Stirrup packages are around $200 depending on length of leathers.

Jods

We’ve found a couple of great jods for lessons.

The Freedman kids jod is made of 4 way stretch compression fabric, has silicone knee patches for extra saddle grip, has belt loops and pockets, reinforced tie down buttons, and is machine washable. Best of all, it comes in sizes XS-XL, and even comes in long lengths. They’re only $99 and you can buy them here.

Kerrits make boot cut leggings perfect for everyday barn wear. We recommend the boot cup microcords with knee patches. They come in kids sizes S-XL, too. Please note that these pants require clip on tie down, and they don’t have buttons for traditional tie downs.

They're $74, and you can buy them here.

Helmets

Our academy ‘go-to’ helmet is the Ovation Deluxe Schooler. It has an attractive profile, has a size to fit everyone, and can go from lessons to the show ring. This classic is $69 At Smartpak, and you can buy it here.

If you want to step up with your helmet, we suggest the USG helmet from Freedmans. It has great airflow to keep riders cool, and comes in 2 sizes. This helmet is $89, and you can purchase here.

Gloves

We found cute kids glove from Smartpak. This extra stretchy glove is only $27, and it comes in fun colors, too.

You can purchase here.

Fun stuff

Photo Shoot with Hanna Agathen Photography

Contact Hanna, and she’ll set up a date for family pics, or a session of pictures with your favorite lesson horse. Her artistic eye will capture beautiful memories.

Subscription to a Saddlebred magazine

If your Knollwood Kid enjoys looking at show horse pics and learning about them, a subscription to Saddle and Bridle, The National Horseman, or The Saddle Horse Report will give them hours of entertainment.

Saddle Horse Report even offers an online subscription to follow show results!

The Best?

What’s Coming Up?

Bowling!

The Knockouts are hitting the bowling lanes at Sussex Bowl this Sunday from 4-6 PM. Be sure to sign up and pay in the school barn lounge!

The UPHA American Royal National Championship Horse Show

The show horses are leaving on Saturday for Kansas City, which means it’s time to ride for national championships and the last two events in the Triple Crown of Saddle Seat Equitation.

The show runs from November 7-12, and Team Knollwood will be in the thick of the competition. You can purchase the webcast of the show, and we’ll be posting updates along the way.

Turkey Trot

The academy riders are showing one more time this season November 18-19. We’re heading to Woodstock with 10 academy stars, many of whom are showing for only the second time. We even have two riders showing for the very first time!

Please come and cheer us on!

Holiday Photo Shoots with Hanna

Hanna will be at the farm with holiday décor on Sunday, November 20. From 10 AM to 2 PM, she’ll shoot family photos, or single photos.

The Knockouts benefit from each and every photo shoot, so sign up soon!

Thanksgiving Day

We’re not giving lessons on Thursday, November 24. Your instructor will be in touch to schedule a make up.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Parent’s Night Out

From 5 PM to 8 PM on Saturday, November 26, the Knockout officers and board members will be on hand for fun at the farm. Parents can enjoy a quiet evening while Knollwood Kids take over the farm. The event is only $25, and includes dinner!

Knockout Holiday Party

After a two year absence, the Knockouts are picking up where they left off. All members are invited to join the fun on Saturday, December 10 for a celebration of the holiday season, and for election of new club officers for 2023.

The festivities start with a team scavenger hunt around the farm before a pizza dinner. Following the feast, members listen to campaign speeches before they vote for new officers.

After the announcement of the 2023 team, we offer an optional gift exchange and fun in the arena.

All members are encouraged to attend. Please sign up in the school barn lounge, and please indicate how many people will be in your party so we’re sure to have enough food for dinner.

Parents are welcome to BYOB.

Not yet a member? We’d love to have you join us. Please talk to your instructor, or an office admin to join the fun.

Knockout Award Banquet

It’s back!

All Knockouts and their families are invited to celebrate 2022 at our award banquet on February 18 at The Legend at Merrill Hills.

We can hardly wait to start the party after 2 years of celebrating in the arena.

The banquet features social hour, dinner, and all sorts of entertainment,

We give awards for both in-barn and out-of-barn academy champions, Scott offers his much anticipated annual ‘State of the Farm’ speech, adult Knockout treasurer Susan updates us on club finances and we premier the slide show review of 2022 all before we dance the night away to a DJ.

Attire can be everything from very dressed up for the riders to nice casual for the parents. All are welcome in whatever attire they’re comfortable in.

Invitations will go out to all Knockout members shortly after the holidays.

Be sure to save the date. You won’t want to miss this!

See you at the barn, or at the in-gate!
