Could it be that we haven’t caught up since the

ASAW Summerfun show?

We have plenty of terrific stories to share, with all the adventures Team Knollwood’s been having!

Horse Show Fun in the Sun

16 academy riders traveled to Roscoe, Illinois for the Mid America Signature Show at the end of July.

Held in a BIG outdoor ring, our riders enjoyed all the space and the big classes on a beautiful sunny Saturday morning.

All of our riders competed at the same performance, so they enjoyed the chance to cheer on riders they don’t always get the chance to see. We also had quite a few supporters at the show!

The highlight of the morning?

Maddie switched horses after JD injured his eye, and ended up showing three different horses and winning three classes.

Maddie was supposed to show in the 13 and under division, but there were no other entries in her age group, so we moved her into the 14 and over age group. She went on to win the qualifier and the all ages championship.

Her mom Sarah was even willing to show off the stadium seat Maddie won in her equitation championship against riders of all ages.

Judge Zubrod invited all the competitors to perform workouts in their equitation classes, and our riders shone in their individual work.

After a morning of horse showing, the show hosted a water balloon fight, and of course, the Knollwood Kids were in the middle of it.  What a perfect ending to a summer horse show performance!

More Water!

The following weekend, the Knollwood Knockouts partnered with Fox Brothers Piggly Wiggly in Hartland to hold a car wash event where they also sold food in the brat shack. It was another perfect sunny day, and the Knollwood Kids washed many cars and sold many brats and burgers.

Great thanks to all the members and their parents who donated their time on a summer weekend to join the fun.  The club raised more than $650 for their charitable activities, and everyone had a great time getting to know other Knockouts.

Louisville is Coming!

Last week was the one week this summer without any camps as  Scott, Carol, and the show barn hosted their Louisville prep week. The camp helpers enjoyed a week off while the show riders rode many lessons in preparation for the World Championship Horse Show in Louisville August 17-24.

All of the show riders pretty much lived at the farm or at the "Hotel Berget" while they rode all week.  The show rider group lessons were an event in themselves as these top riders rode through real show ring situations while being instructed and motivated by Scott and Carol.

These classes even drew spectators who learned just by listening.

Six New Academy Stars!

We introduced six new riders to the joys of horse showing at the ASAW Summer Showcase Show last weekend. Our newest show stars attended a prep camp prior to the show where they learned all about the horse show experience and had a lot of fun, too. They even held camp at the show on Friday so they could ride in the arena and practice for their debuts.

On show day, they rode like pros, and didn’t even miss a single diagonal! We’re so proud of these riders, and are looking forward to watching them progress even further!

The show is a  joint venture of the American Saddlebred Association of Wisconsin and the Knollwood Knockouts.  The Knockouts supply the labor, and split the show proceeds with the ASAW’s scholarship Fund.  Many thanks to all the Knockouts who volunteered with the show and the concession stand!

What’s Coming Up?

The show horses are leaving today for Louisville for the show starting on Sunday.  We’ll post schedules and webcast information shortly.

Safe travels, and good luck to everyone showing on the green shavings of Freedom Hall!

Want to watch the final night of the show?

We’re hosting a Stake Night Party in the show lounge at 5:00 PM on August 24.  We’ll project the live feed and watch the show together.  The event is free, we just ask everyone to bring some snacks and drinks. Adults are welcome to BYOB.

This Saturday, we’re hosting another popular Parents Night Out.  For only $10, your Knollwood Kid can enjoy 3 hours at the farm with the Knockout officers and board members. The evening includes crafts, dinner, and lots of games.  Please sign up in the school barn lounge by Friday.

The big Knollwood Summer Show is coming up fast on August 24 and 25, and we can hardly wait.  Sign ups are ready for hair appointments and helping in the concession stand.  (You can also sign up online here.)

We’re also looking for donations to the gift baskets, and those are posted on the tack room door in the school barn.

Our show horses and academy stars will be showing close to home in September, so please make plans to join us at the Wisconsin Futurity Horse Festival at State Fair Park. The academy performance is on Saturday, September 21 at 9 AM, and the entire show runs from September 19-22. You won’t want to miss it!

See you at the barn or at the in-gate!
