Group or Private Lessons

As riding has become more popular, class size has increased and will continue to increase in the future. Many things can be learned in group lessons that cannot be learned in private lessons, and vice versa.

In group lessons, riders learn control and individuality, not to mention concentration and the ability to control their horse around other horses. This is very important not only in lessons, but also in showing and trail riding. Many riders that start out in private lessons find themselves intimidated if there are other horses in the ring at the same time. The purpose of group lessons is not to mass produce riders, but to give a rider the opportunity to concentrate not only on developing themselves physically, but mentally as well. There comes a time when students who take private lessons need to benefit from the group environment.

Private lessons, on the other hand, give the opportunity to develop and build on a rider’s specific strengths and or weaknesses which change as a rider moves from one level to the next and graduates to more advanced horses.

If you and or your instructor feel you or your child would benefit from private lessons, please let us know and we will be happy to set up an appointment. Also, a few private lessons are necessary if you plan to participate in any academy shows. Private lessons help us to work out any problems or answer any questions a rider may have before going into competition. This helps to make the showing experience more educational, and most importantly, more enjoyable.
