The sultry summer of 2012 continued last weekend as Team Knollwood traveled to Roscoe, Illinois to compete at the Mid America Signature Show. Held outdoors in the huge ring at Ledges Sporting Horse Complex, this show is a favorite of ours. In fact, it’s the only academy and ‘B’ show where we get to compete outside!
The show has a relaxed, summery feel to it, with some fun classes added in to the schedule along the way. More about that later!!
Our academy riders shone in the sunny outdoor ring. They enjoyed the challenge of some large classes which made them feel at home, just like in their group rides at Knollwood!
Jess and Hooper were on fire this weekend, and finished out the morning as the walk, trot and canter academy champions!
Our walk trot riders shone as well, with Ashley finishing as the reserve walk trot champion.
Not to be outdone, our ‘B’ riders had a great time in the sun, too.
Mary and Woody continued right where they left off at their last show, and finished as reserve pleasure champions. Jodi, Laura, and Taylor also turned in some memorable rides.
Savannah and Merlin really enjoyed the weekend! With Merlin’s ears up, and Savannah smiling from ear to ear, it was hard to ignore them coming down the rail. This team won their equitation qualifier, pattern class, and their equitation championship with a near perfect pattern to finish the class.
Did we mention fun earlier?
This show featured the first ever class for ‘Texting While Trotting.’ Mary, Alex, and Savannah were brave enough to enter the competition on Hooper, Dexter, and Hugo. (We will admit that they practiced in their group lessons on Thursday nights!)
These three entered the ring to find a class of seven competitors. After texting at the trot, only the top five could continue to the cantering round. The top two texter/riders advanced to the ride off, and Savannah made the cut to represent Team Knollwood.
After the final text, Savannah was declared the winner on Hugo!
Not to be outdone, Skeet continued his new tradition of doing goofy things for the camera while holding his yellow flowers.
Here he is, watching the show with Laura and Alex, and Chili trying to get into the act!
We had a great time at the show. Thanks to all our friends who came to cheer us on!!
This weekend, we’re off to the ASAW/Knockouts show at Wild Wind Equine Center in Waukesha.
Then next weekend, we’re off to Madison for the Invitational at the Alliant Energy Center.
Thanks to everyone at Team Knollwood for making the Mid America Signature Show successful. We look forward to making more memories in the weeks ahead.
