The 2011 Presidential Election?????
Yes, it’s true that there was a presidential election in 2011! The Knollwood Knockouts elected its officers for the upcoming year just before the start of their annual holiday party on Friday.
Outgoing officers have left big shoes to fill!
Under President Sydney’s leadership, the Knockouts have had a very fun and active year. Her term included many new events including the Support the Troop Drive, a used coat drive, and the popular Helper Olympics to raise money for the Waukesha Food Pantry. The club also continued its mastery of the concession stand at the Knollwood shows, raised money for breast cancer research, the ASAW scholarship fund, and Saddlebred Rescue, adopted a family for the holidays, and became the first youth group to sponsor a class at the World Championship Horse Show.
Filling in those big shoes for 2012 will be Shelby, whose enthusiasm is known far and wide.
Shelby started riding with us seven years ago, and currently competes in pleasure equitation on her horse Callaway’s Sportscaster.
Her creativity should make this an exciting year for the club!
Rumor has it that a certain pointer dog had launched an exploratory committee to test the waters for a presidential run, but decided against the campaign when he heard that Shelby was in the race. Maybe next year, Skeet!
We will have co-vice presidents for 2012 with Rachel and Lizzy taking on the roles. These two have served the Knockouts for a number of years and will be a great help to Shelby bringing energy, enthusiasm, and fun to their roles.
In addition to being accomplished riders, Rachel is a skilled and tenacious basketball player, and Lizzy is often performing in dance events. You can meet Rachel at the barn on Tuesday nights when she’s helping, and you can catch up with Lizzy on Mondays.
The newest member of the officer team is Maria who will serve as the club secretary for 2012. Maria started riding with us several years ago, and currently competes with us at academy shows. You can find her at the barn on Fridays and Saturdays when she has lessons and helps in the barn.
We offer great thanks to Syd and her officers for all they accomplished with the club in 2011, and look forward to watching Shelby and her team take the Knollwood Knockouts to new and exciting places! Come join us on the adventure!
