Madison Invitational through Skeet’s eyes

Pssst…Skeet here again.  Mother helped with the pictures, and Ann helped me type, so here are my views of the Madison Invitational show held last weekend at the Alliant Energy Center!  (Sorry about my snout being in some of the pictures.  Have you ever tried to balance a camera on your head?)

Stan

This is Stan from Merriehill Farm.  He gave the horses a ride to the show because Scott, Eric, and the rig were in Louisville.  He even hauled and stacked the hay for us!  He trains beautiful Morgans and people are always laughing when he’s around—Could he be a pointer in disguise?

This is the Horse Emporium trailer.

They sell horsey things here, and Mother always stops here.  I think they should sell dog treats.

This is Vicki, the nice lady who manages the show.

Vicki and Dozer in office

Why is she nice?  She always has dog treats,  air conditioning and an open door policy.  (Dozer walked into my frame at the last minute!)

This is the Knollwood aisle at the show.  There are lots of ribbons, and nice people who throw toys for me to fetch.

I have to stay in hunting shape so I’m ready for the pheasants!

This is Laura, fixing up Gina’s hair before the show.

Gina and Laura

I love Laura because she speaks dog and she gives really great dog massages.  She can almost put Dozer into a trance!  He waits for her every Thursday in the middle of the arena.   Plus, she won the adult pleasure championship on her horse, Heist!

Rodeo

This is my friend, Rodeo. He lives with Laura.

Skeet and Dozer

This is what people do to dogs at shows.  Dozer likes to relax in the aisle and people were outlining him in chalk.  Then they got me!!! What are they trying to say?

These are the lesson horses before the academy classes on Friday morning.  Mother put them out in a paddock and I chased them around so they could excercise before the performance. I think I heard Mother say something about horsey bootcamp?

While I was chasing Zeus, Amos and Hooper, Dozer was in the horse show office again!

Here he is asking for more treats, using the ‘car wash’ technique he learned from Bear, Mother’s first dog.  He was a rare shepador.

Savannah and Laura

This is Laura and Savannah.  They came early in the morning to help with the academy classes.

This is Ann helping Alex and Amos in the warm up area. It was a little wet on Saturday morning–good hunting practice!

This is Savannah with her ribbons.  She won the equitation championship and was reserve in her pleasure championship.  Her horse, Merlin, must have been a pointer in a former life!

Here’s one last look at some friends in the horse show office.  Thanks for the treats!

See you next year!!

Skeet I absolutely loved your perspective on the show. Not sure how I’m typing because I’m laughing so hard!! I often wondered who delivered the hay and now I know. I’m so glad you and Dozer have found people to give you treats at the show-smart doggies!!!! Be sure to always listen to “those people”. I look forward to many more postings from you-they are entertaining beyond belief!!!!!
Maybe when the horse show season ends, you could do a “day in the life” of Skeet. I can only imagine what stories you would have to tell. You are a wonderful storyteller Skeet!!! Keep the stories coming!!! Great job!!!!
