Madison Invitational Horse Show

Knollwood tackroom at Madison Invitational

We had a great time at the Madison Invitational horse show this past weekend!  The Knollwood rig was on it’s way to Louisville, so Stan of Merriehill Farm hauled our six horses to the show on Wednesday, after setting up his own stalls and hospitality area at the show.

Emma and Zeus, champions at Madison Invitational

This show is primarily a Morgan show, so we had the opportunity to watch some classes with both Morgans and Saddlebreds. The academy classes also had riders on both breeds, so we had the chance to compete against some different programs than we usually see at Saddlebred shows.

Both our ‘B’ riders and academy riders turned in nice performances and earned some really nice ribbons! Savannah won the equitation championship, beating two seasoned riders who had each won national titles and she was reserve in the junior exhibitor pleasure championship as well.  Laura and Heist were the champions of show pleasure for adult riders, and Mary and Woody finished third. Mary and Hooper were the country pleasure driving champion this weekend, too!

Friday morning was a good one for our walk trot academy riders.  Micki and

Academy horses enjoying 'recess' before Friday academy classes!

Maria won their equitation qualifiers, while Emma won the championship with Micki reserve.  Micki and Hooper also won the pleasure championship!

Our walk trot canter academy riders shone on a dark Saturday morning.  Alex won her qualifier, while Gina won the younger age split with Heather in reserve.  Gina came out on top in the championship with Alex reserve, and Heather third.  A nice sweep for the Knollwood riders!

Alex and Amos at Madison Invitational

The order of finish changed a little in the pleasure championship, with Alex and Amos first, Heather and Zeus second, and Gina and Hooper in third.

Our horses and riders enjoyed great weather, a relaxing schedule, and lots of fun with friends.  We hope to be back next year for more!

Our next academy and ‘B’ show will be the IASPHA Fall show in Gurnee on September 10 and 11.
